The Institute is the training branch of the Arahura Health Centre working to promote understandings about healing from an integrative perspective that values the whole person- mind, body and spirit.

The Institute is registered with NZQA and its main programme is the Certificate in Basic Integrative Counselling Skills and Personal Growth which is NZQA level 4.

Institute staff work in the Health Centre and the teaching is based on both currrent psychological theory and clinical experience. All staff have a Christian spirituality and are respectful of and open to the diversity of spiritual experiences students bring. Staff also work with other training bodies primarily in Christchurch particularly to upskill people in their listening skills. Training can be tailored to meet the needs of specific groups on request.

Supervision: Supervision is increasingly recognised as a valuable and necessary adjunct to safe practice for health providers, pastoral staff and allied professionals. It is offered by Institute and Health Centre staff.
