Sue Jones

Bachelor of Science, Diploma of Teaching, Diploma of Physical Education, Diploma of Adult Psychotherapy, MNZAP, Registered Psychotherapist.

Approved to work alongside those referred by ACC suffering mental injury as a result of sexual abuse or physical injury.

I began my working life as a secondary teacher of Science and Physical Education before helping nurture 3 children. Although these kids are now adults my heart continues to support them. Becoming involved in business and playing netball, became my next challenges. My interest in holistic health drew me to the Arahura Centre where I completed a 3 year psychotherapy internship. In addition I studied Solution Focused counselling through the Canterbury University Master of Education programme, and I completed the Australian-accredited 3 year Self Psychology Diploma of Adult Psychotherapy.

I enjoy working alongside couples and individuals as they struggle to make sense of the difficulties and pain that life spawns. Teaching and group facilitation are a passion of mine and these complement my psychotherapy practice.

My wish to support others as they courageously attempt a healthier psyche, spirit and mind, includes encouraging women and men to become more physically active in enjoyable ways that become sustainable and life giving.

Growing up in mountains gave me an appreciation for the outdoors, and I can be spotted running, swimming, or biking with friends in preparation for some sporting event.
