Roberta George BA M Ed (Counselling) MNZAC

Roberta started counselling training at Arahura 12 years ago. She completed the psychotherapy internship and subsequently moved to Wellington. There she started and built up a counselling practice in Johnsonville over 7 years. She returned to Christchurch in 2005 and since then she has been working at Arahura.

Her clients are both adults and adolescents dealing with diverse issues including:

• grief and loss
• anxiety
• self esteem
• anger management
• depression
• effects of abuse.

Some changes can only be made over a long period of time but sometimes significant changes can be made using short term therapies. Therefore in her work she uses elements of psychodynamic and person centred therapy plus interactive drawing therapy and narrative.

Outside of work, Roberta is a member of a local church and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

She is also a spiritual director accompanying people as they discover where God is working in their life.

Qualifications: BA, M Ed with Cert in Counselling, 3 year Psychotherapy Internship

Accredited: Sexual Abuse Counsellor with ACC
